The Answer

You people are good!!  Charlsie wanted me to try to find her in the picture... which I wasn't able to do.  Now that I know which one she is, her face is so evident to me.  But the first thing that really stuck out to me was how much this girl...

... looked like ME!  It was overwhelming.

When I pointed it out to Charlsie, she said, "Why, that's Ivon (Treadway) Sanders".

Ivon is a sweet, sweet woman I went to church with for years.  She's gone on to be with the Lord now, but she left a lasting impression on me.

One time when I was about 25 years old, David and I went to an in-home prayer meeting and the Preacher asked us to gather in a circle, hold hands, and we'd go around the circle saying something nice about another person in the circle.  When it was my turn, I had chosen Ms. Ivon, and I said, "Ms. Ivon, when I grow up, I want to be just like you!" and I SO meant it.

She was a special lady.  She used to say "Isn't God good?" all the time. As a matter of fact, that was one of the last things she said to the Preacher before she died.

Although she is not related to me in any way (and I did not use Photoshop to superimpose my face on hers), I am thrilled that the girl that looked kind of like me in 1933, was that godly woman I was privileged to come to know in her latter years.

Charlsie's basketball photo is precious to me.  A priceless treasure.  And, someday, these old basketball pictures will be priceless treasures for my children to hold near and dear to their hearts...

I'm laughing hysterically because Kale said you had Bob Ross hair. He is so funny! Personally - I'm loving the knee socks! I didn't know you played basketball!

I would have not guessed that was Ivon but what a nice tribute to her! Ivon was THE MOST gracious lady and I was proud to have known her! She certainly always was an encourager!

Love those blue suits!

That's crazy--I thought sure that the girl HAD to be related! Ivon was so sweet.

And your basketball pictures are fabulous!! As much as I LOVE ball, I don't know if I could have handled those shorts! I've never been a fan of playing basketball in underwear! :)

You really DO look like her. That is wild!

I bet you were really good in basketball. I can tell there is a "game face" in there somewhere! You were really tan, too.
