Reminds Me of Living in the Tent

We have been without electricity for four days now, us and 100,000 other Arkansas Entergy customers ... which is why I haven't been able to blog lately. I'm going crazy, don't think I'm not. Today, I was able to get my car out of the driveway and out our roads, which are covered with fallen limbs. I'm at Jodi's (my BFF) house. She is blessed with electricity and cable TV!!

We're on the hunt for a generator. I guess there's somewhat of a mob mentality getting D batteries, lamp oil, and generators. We do have heat, we have a small wood stove that keeps it somewhat comfortable in the house... it's staying in the low to mid 60s. But, we have no water because our well pump can't pump it to the house. We're also able to cook with the use of our gas stove top, but no oven.

This really reminds me of the days we spent living in an army tent. Although we had a TV in the tent... and we had water, even though we had to haul it a half a mile.

My only access to the internet is with my Blackberry... so if you don't hear from me on my blog for a while, you can catch me on Twitter (@jacquiewallace) which is also located on my sidebar.

Enjoy your conveniences... you just never really appreciate them until you don't have them anymore!!

Hey girl! Hope everything gets back to normal soon for all you in Arkansas!!! I know, appreciate the small things in life, right???? The things we take for granted until we're without them!!

Girl I have been wondering about y'all. I know Bec and family have had it pretty bad but at least their power and cable is on.

I hope everything gets back to normal for you as soon as possible.

Amen sister!!! Two years ago we went without power for five days due to an ice storm, and we had no alternate heat, and everything in our house is electric. It was crazy!! But we managed and ended up staying with a friend the last two days of the outage, and then was able to get a generator through Dick's work, so now we do have that.

I've been praying for you dear one, and will continue.

Stay safe and warm,
Love you friend,
Dawn

Jacquie, I have been thinking of all of you (as I sit here in the WARM hospital waiting room) knowing it has been a hard time for all of you. We DO take so much for granted, don't we!

I know how hard it must be not to be able to use your computer....drives you crazy!

I teased Steve about coming here yesterday. Mostly to see the baby, of course, but he needed a warm shower!!!

Hope it all comes back SOON!

Hi Jacquie,
So sorry about all the weather related trouble! We left MS on Wed. and headed to Indiana to see our newborn grandson! We had ice and snow all thru KY & into IN but no real trouble. It is really cold here. If you visit my blog, you can see why we braved the storm!

Oh Jacquie, I do hope you get your power back on soon. During hurricane Ike we were without power for 7 days. We drove 12 hours to get a generator. We were lucky though because it wasnt really cold during that time. Good luck, and we will be praying that it comes back on soon!

Hi There,

Hope you are still doing okay. It is awful that you have been without power. We had this problem last year. We lost everything in our freezer and frig. It was a mess for awhile. It was the weirdest thing. One side of our street had power and the other side didn't.

Boo for the ice storm :(

Is your power on yet, or no? I'll cross my fingers!!!

I neeeed you to train me!! Going from 3 hours of practice and running everyday to absolutely NOTHING has made me a huge blob. I have no motivation to do it by myself and a gym membership doesn't really fit into my budget right now- so basically, I gained... well more than I would ever mention out loud. Boo. :)
