041 – How to Decoratively Hide a Breaker Box

040

This is what I’ve been up to all day.  I got up early (for some unknown reason on a Saturday morning) and cleared Tyler’s old room out (the rest of the way) and started painting.  You can see my three choices (actually there’s a fourth, but I eliminated it right off) on the wall.  Which one do you think I went with??

Now, if you would be so kind to help me, I need a little decorating advice.  I’m pretty sure you can see the breaker box on the wall there.  It is mounted on an area that jets out about 4 inches or so.  The view you are seeing is from the bedroom door, so you can see how obvious it is.  I’ve been trying to come up with a way to hide it decoratively.  Any advice????

If it were me, I think I'd just paint right over it Jacquie. It seems like it would just blend right in. Or maybe find some fun wall accent that would be a focal point and draw your eye away from the box.

I really think you can paint over it. I am not sure what you can prime it with or if you need to.

I would paint over it, then I probaby would hang baseball bats above the box with the stick clips that you can 'pull' and it comes off the wall! For the life of me, I can't think of the name. I would put string through the base of the bats (I am thinking of wooden bats) and hang them on the clips! I also believe that if you paint it and that is all you want to do, it will blend in. The color I think you went with is....hummmmmmI like the darker brown, but small rooms, if you go dark makes them look smaller, so I might go with the lighter color! Hurry and show us!Lol

Painting over it is a must but you know how I love quilts so I'd make one just big enough to cover it. You can match/blend with your bedding and curtains, hang it on a small curtain rod, and then if you need the breaker box you just lift it up! Didn't you say this was your son and daughter-in-love's room? If so, copy their wedding invitation onto fabric and use that as the center. Then just put borders on in whatever colors you want and quilt it. How special is that! blessings, marlene

We can DEFINITELY find something cute at TJM to cover it. Remember that long thing I have hanging in my bathroom? Something like that would be perfect!

Branson trip in a couple weeks?? haha

I'd probably paint over it too.

What's the style of the room going to be? Do you like house plants? You could do one on a pedestal? Or some type of artwork displayed on an easel in front of the box so it wouldn't even hang over it???

I was thinking hiding it behind a houseplant myself. Truthfully, I'm not the decorator. My sis will probably come up with something good tho. She's great at decorating.

Paint it with chalkboard paint, it will make it functional art or put use cork over it, its very inexpensive and easy to cut to size
