Getting Caught Up

I’m still trying to get caught up from the un-vacation we had while the power was out.  Other than that, I haven’t been up to much except for work, grocery shopping, laundry, working out, checking on Charlsie … and watching a few of my TV favorites (24, Biggest Loser, American Idol).  You know – life.  The satellite guy came yesterday and got our satellite back in working order after the ice storm.  We only had our HD channels, our standard channels were not coming in… so we’re back to full TV again.

We lost lots of trees in the ice storm and our yard (and everyone else’s in north Arkansas) was a mess!

David and I worked on it for two days while the power was out.  It’s mostly free of the big limbs, but there’s lots of little stuff that still need to be picked up, raked up, burned.  He’ll be working on our farm acreage for quite some time.

This is not a sight you’ll see very often.

I also got a few pictures of some of the prettier parts of the ice storm.

I’m about done with winter time. I loved this letter to "Winter" by my friend, Betsy.  Who else is ready for Spring?? (and flip flops!!)

For those of you who are “24” fans… my favorite line from Monday night’s episode: “With all due respect, Madam President, ask around.”  Loved it! (I’m thinking… does this President NOT know how many times Jack has saved other US Presidents, or the world for that matter???)

It is amazing to look at those pictures and see something kinda pretty that caused soooooo much damage. I am sorry you lost so many trees. I can't imagine having to clear all of that out. I am glad they weren't really close to your house. That would have been awful.

I still can't believe you were without power all that time. I'm glad you were able to find the "beauty" amongst all that damage. Here's hoping the cleanup goes good. On the positive side, them there muscles are getting a good workout!

The ice was pretty for a day or 2, but then I was ready for it to be GONE!!! The limbs seem to just keep multiplying the more you pick up the more there are! HA! What is your secret to get David to use the camera to take pictures??!!

Love your pictures of the ice-covered gate! You look like you know what your doing moving those limbs. if you run out of limbs I know a yard that has enough to make work for the next several months!! har

Jacquie,

It's crazy that something so destructive could create such beauty at the same time. That gate was just beautiful!!!

I'm glad things are starting to get back to some degree of normal for you. We had a beautiful day today, hope yours was warm and sunny to.

Love you friend, have a blessed evening,
Dawn

Loved that 24 line, too...and also when the President asked him something like, "Well, what exactly could you do in just 45 minutes, Jack?" Uh, hello, do you know Jack Bauer!?!?!? :)

The ice did so much damage, but it was pretty in some ways, too. I loved the clean-up crew photos--you looked like you were good help!

Thanks for the sweet comment about my grandma, and for praying for her too. My mom and uncle decided not to tell her or my grandpa because they don't want them "worrying" and I know it would just absolutely break my grandpa's heart.

Now we know who carries the big stick at your house. LOL Poor Dave!

The picture of your fence row is amazing. Who would think that such beauty could cause sooooo much damage.

I've been meaning to ask about Ms. Charlsie. Hope she is doing well. How in the world did she manage during the ice storm?

I think my sister is addicted to 24! You two should get together because she keeps trying to get me to watch it and I refuse. :) blessings, marlene

The ice is so beautiful, yet so destructive. I love that picture of the ice on your neighbor's gate.
