058 – In My Happy Place

058

It was a great start to my day waking up with these two in the house.  Dave fixed us all eggs, bacon and biscuits (breakfast is his specialty) and then Kayla and I went to Branson for the day while the guys had a “man day” (Tyler met them for supper).

I wish Houston wasn’t 10 hours away because I could sure get used to having my chicks in the nest more often.

057 – They’re Home!!

062810 (2)

Kale and Kayla finally made it!! I was never so happy to see this sight pulling into the drive…

We were a little concerned how Izzy and Bosley would do. Here’s their first meeting:

After a little snip right off, they’ve done really well!! I think they’ll be BFFs by the time they leave.

It's gonna be a fun week!

056 – He Has a Little Goulet Blood in Him

062710 (1) 062710 (2) 062710 (3)

Tyler came over today and replaced a couple of bi-fold closet doors with slab doors for me.  Not an easy task, since this house has settled and nothing is square.  He likes to remind me that he is pretty “handy”… and I like to remind him that he got it from his Grandpa Goulet.

He did a great job!! Thanks, Tyler.

055 – Saturday Randomness

I spent the day at home today.  I have been so on-the-go in the past month or so that it was great just to be home for a while! I got caught up on laundry, rearranged my bedroom, got a load of stuff together for the Salvation Army, and threw away a TON of stuff!!!

When David got home we went to supper at Chili's.  The last time I was there, Jodi and I got the new fire-grilled corn guacamole.  It was so good!! Tonight I had David try it and it was SO hot I could hardly eat it.  There were LOTS of jalapenos in it!! But, I did feel a little like Laurie (with her salsa), except I go wild over the chips!!

After getting groceries, we happened upon this rainbow.  I hope it’s a promise of more rain.  We sure do need it.

055

There was a fireworks show at the local college tonight and the cars were lined up all along the highway.  Some of them were there three hours early to get a spot.

Kale and Kayla made it safely to Kayla’s folks this afternoon.  They’re in Arkansas, now I just have to wait a couple more days to see them!

054 – Be Still My Heart

Here are a few things that made my heart go pitter-patter today:

062510 Visit to the NCA Humane Society

Tyler and I went to the Humane Society and I fell in love with this pair.  They were 10 years old and were from a family that was moving.  They were so sweet and it just broke my heart that someone would give up their family pets… just look at this little girl’s face…

Tyler liked this little big guy:

For supper, I went to eat with these fellers…

As you can see, Tyler is rarely serious for a photo.

And last but not least, I was SO excited to see this sight today!!! Be still my heart!! 062510 TJM is coming

053 – Guilty Pleasure

053

The fix for any rough situation … is chocolate.  And Subway’s amazing cookies fit the bill.

I’ve been bad. Very bad.

052 – Rest in Peace, Holly Kitty

052

September 15, 1998 - June 23, 2010

It’s been a rough day.  David and I made the decision to put Holly down… we’ve wrestled with it for the last three weeks, but it was SO hard to do.  She’s been a part of our family for almost 12 years.  Kale was 11 and Tyler was 9 when we got her.  She was a good cat… but bless her heart, she’s struggled with obesity and was a woman on a diet her whole life.  A couple of weeks ago, I took the contraption off her feeder so that she could “rob” it whenever she wanted.  I just wanted her to be as happy as possible with what time she had left.

Here are a few photos I found from over the years…

Then, after work today, Ms. Charlsie called my cell.  I had my hands in water, so after I dried them I tried to call her back.  Her line was busy and stayed busy (she’d left it off the hook). Dave was about to leave, so he ran by to check on her and she was not well.  When he got there she had all her prescriptions on the table with the lids open and pills were everywhere – I sort her meds for her in a one-week sorter and they were all mixed up and I couldn’t make heads or tails out of it .  She had some pills inside the wrong bottles and everything.  She couldn’t remember what had happened.  I am hoping that she mixed up her doses at one point today, the other option is another mini stroke.  She didn’t remember going out to the garden this morning or taking her 1 PM dose.  Her blood pressure was fine. Perfect, actually.  But, she was pretty shook up.  We got her settled down and her memory came back to her, although she’s not clear about why she had her meds out, she did remember working in the garden and taking her bath this morning.  I’m going to try to find her a one-day sorter and take her medications home with me.  All I know is that it is scary to see her like that. And it’s upsetting to her too.  I took her some things from the store after church this evening and she was feeling much better.

It’s been an emotional day…that’s for sure.

(I haven’t taken the wrapping off the lampshade… because I haven’t made up my mind about it yet.  I think I actually liked the desk better white, but I wanted black for the room.)

And here’s David’s grandma’s old rocking chair…

And one of my antique dressers…

Any suggestions? Do you think I need to do something behind the headboard?? You can barely notice the breaker box… I’m pretty happy with that!!

Now, I just need Kale and Kayla to come home!!!! Less than six days left…

050 – Waking Up on Monday Mornings is Hard

I love Mondays, but waking up to go to work after a weekend is hard!! This is what I found on my side of the bed after I got out of the shower this morning…

… it must be nice.

049 – Father’s Day 2010

062010 Fathers Day (2)

We had Father’s Day lunch with Tyler and the Howards at our favorite Mexican restaurant today. (Tyler left before we did, so he didn’t have his picture taken.) 062010 Fathers Day (4)

I spent the rest of the day painting my laundry room… and let me tell you, it was a MUCH bigger job than I anticipated.  I’m exhausted, so I’m off to soak in the tub.

048 – Branson with Jodi

048

Jodi and I went to Branson today… two stores for me, four for her.  I went to TJ Maxx first while Jodi went next door to Target, then she joined me back at TJM.  I found a quilt and some pillows for the new bed.

We had lunch at the Olive Garden… I’m so sad to say that the waitress told us that they are taking manicotti off the menu. I LOVE their manicotti!!  I don’t think they’ll have it when you come, Kayla. :(

Our last stop was the Tanger Outlet Mall.  Jodi ran into the Coleman store first and then met me at the Gap…they had some good sales. By then, we were pretty well spent (both physically and financially. Ha!), so we called it a day. A fun day.

047 – A Great Way to Relax at the End of a Wild Week

047

Jodi and I went to get pedicures after work today. It was a great way to end the work week!! If no one else had been in there, I think that massaging chair would’ve put me right to sleep!

061810 Pedis with JoJo

AND my new mattress set and bed came for the spare bedroom today. I need to do a few more things and the room should be ready for Kale and Kayla when they come in a little over a week!! I don’t even have words to express how ready I am to see them in “real life”.

After he assembled my bed, we headed to Ms. Charlsie’s to deliver her new recliner. This is a HORRIBLE photo, and you certainly can’t tell from the picture, but I don’t think she could’ve been any happier with it. She said she “may send me to do a little more shopping for her in the future.”

061810 Charlsies new recliner

This morning at work I got a phone call from “Life Line”. It’s the medical alert system that Charlsie uses. They informed me that she had activated her button and they couldn’t reach her by phone, so they asked me to go to her house to check on her. I told them I would, but I was pretty certain that she was going to be found in her garden. Sure enough, when I pulled in her driveway she and "Sweetie" came up from the garden.

(I don't think she realizes I'm recording her... I AM holding the camera up, but she never says anything about me recording. I know I don't have long left with her and I really want to remember her and how fun she is.)

046 – VBS Day 4

I had a chance to go and look at how all the teachers decorated their rooms this morning.  They are so creative, so I thought I’d share them with you…

Little Luke thought he was as big as the school kids!! Adorable!

And the excitement for the day was when our fire alarm went off.  That caused quite a stir!! It was only a smoke detector gone bad, though. Thank goodness.

Tomorrow is the last day… but it’s been a FUN week!!
