126 – Houston Day 3 – Overwhelmed

David was the breakfast chef again this morning and fixed us all omelets.  Then we decided to go to the late service (11:30) at Kale and Kayla’s church (Fellowship of the Woodlands).  I found myself “overwhelmed” most of the day today…

I was overwhelmed at the number of people just serving in the “transit ministry”… helping to direct traffic and parking.

I was overwhelmed at the number of people being baptized outside in their fountain after services (the count was in the hundreds).

I was overwhelmed as I sat in that beautiful sanctuary with my beautiful family worshiping a God who has been so gracious to me.  Today they welcomed Sarah Kelly to their worship team… she was SO good!  She sang her first song, then before the second song (Always Undeniable) she asked us to block out everything but HIM and just worship.  It was a moving song and then she followed it with “The Revelation Song”… one of my favorites.

I was undone.  And oh so grateful for that moment that I had to worship -- with my family --  all together.  I was saturated in thanksgiving.

An added bonus was that Tyler was sitting next to me and I could hear him sing the entire Revelation Song in my ear… that’s good momma stuff.

As a side note, yesterday Kale was talking about church and mentioned their worship team… as it turns out Greg Long and his wife, Janna (from the group Avalon) lead worship there! That was a crazy notion to me, since I bought all Greg Long’s albums and went to his concerts.

The message was preached today by Tierce Green, a man that I have known for several years through church camp at Siloam Springs (he’s on staff at the church, too).  I am ALWAYS convicted when I hear Tierce preach about being a friend of sinners.  I am one of those people who would love to live in a perfect little community, filled with sweet, kind, loving Christians… but that would make me far from what Christ was… and Tierce always reminds me that Jesus wants me to be a light in this world (and as he said, not a light in a warehouse somewhere waiting to go to heaven someday).

Anyway, if you can’t tell, we had good church today and I was overwhelmed by a heart filled with worship.  It was great to get a glimpse of where the K’s worship and what their Sundays look like and how God is at work in The Woodlands.

After church, Kale took us to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.

Back CameraAnd then to a furniture store and Target after that.  Tonight, we drove around to see some HUGE homes here and Market Street in The Woodlands and then we went out for supper.

We’re in for the night, watching some Discovery Channel and playing “Words with Friends” between ourselves (and Daisy… we’re missing you, Daisy!).  Tomorrow is our last full day here… and I’m SO sad just thinking about it.  We LOVE it here… we just wish it was only an hour away.  That would be my dream come true.

That worship service sounds like what I experienced today at my brother's church. My nephew is a praise and worship leader. He was really good and not just because he is a family member good. When the pastor opened his mouth, everything he said was meant for me to hear. I felt that I was supposed to be there. It was amazing. Everything I was looking for today. An Awanna program for MK and a bible study for myself. I still love my country church, but today was too cool.

I love that statement - a light unto the world and not in a warehouse somewhere waiting for Heaven! I need to use that on my blog. :) blessings, marlene

so fun to read about Tierce Green! I have many, many memories (and photos somewhere) of him from church camp and revivals at my church. His "Glow in the Dark' song is now on repeat in my head. :-) thanks for the blast from the past.
